Gem Essences & Vibrational Medicine
Presenter – Wendi Forbes
NatureCare College 2003
An Excerpt from the transcript of a lecture given at NatureCare College, Sydney, Australia in 2003.
Thank you all for being here and thank you Jacqui for the opportunity to speak.
I like to start each talk that I give with a few moments of silence, so that we can all be present in our bodies and centred as well as we can be.

Wendi: Tonight we are going to be talking about gem essences and vibrational remedies, in particular we’re approaching this as an introduction. Jackie gave me a wonderful brief, she has asked me to inspire you and bring you to an understanding of your accountability when working with gem essences.
I’d like to be able to answer as many questions as I can.
To start with I need to know how many of you have interacted with gem essences and flower essences or any other essences. Has everybody taken a vibrational remedy? (general affirmation)
Anyone not, yet? Good.
Has anyone dispensed a vibrational remedy yet?
Have you suggested a remedy to someone? (mixed response)
Good, that gives me an idea of where we’re at.
Has anyone used a gem essence before? (3-5 hands up)
Those of you who have, had you noticed a difference between gem essences and other essences, and would you like to talk about that?
Question: ‘I just recently, for the first time made one out of this, my Labradorite, that was an amazing experience, vivid dreams and I could see, I don’t know if it was DNA or Tibetan figure eights swirling around in my head and it was very weird.’
Wendi: Hmm, and as well, it’s something that you wear a lot so it has a very.… you’ve just activated a deeper experience for yourself.
And what about you?
Response: ...It was somewhat similar to that, I have had dreams that I recognized as connected to a certain number of issues.
Wendi: Was it different to what you’ve experienced working with a flower essence?
Response: Yes it was far more, not overwhelming but just on a massive scale.
Wendi: A little bit more direct?
Response: Direct, yes.
Wendi: A lot of people go in to making gem essences thinking it is a lot easier, you’re able to keep the gem, you buy the gem, there is a sense of ownership, of control. It can be kept on a shelf, you’ve always got it there. Sometimes there is a sense of deep connection/ love with a particular gem. People think it’s really easy, and that these things make it easy to make up a gem essence whenever you like. Whilst I would like everyone on the planet to make essences and share gem essences with other people. It is a very profound experience and the need for spiritual awareness and the understanding of “truth”, or the courage to face your self, can be greater in the making of gem essences, and in the dispensing of a gem essence, than many other forms of essences, because they are so simple, and it is so easy to be drawn into “ownership” of a rock and therefore attachment. Gem Essences can be quite confronting because the minerals are necessary for our existence in this form, yet we rarely acknowledge any connection with the mineral level.
Question: Could you comment? ...I’ve made one for my assignment and it had a negative affect on me.
Wendi: Question. Was that a flower essence or another form of essence?
Answer: No, I made it, it’s a gem essence.
Wendi: Is it from a stone that you like.
Answer: Yeah.
Wendi: Often gem essences will show you the truth of a pattern, does that fit in?
Answer: Possibly.
Wendi: And sometimes that can be difficult for us, as gem essences are so direct. Direct at levels we don’t normally consciously address. This can be very uncomfortable, we can begin shifting consciousness at levels that effect the way we are physically manifesting or even the way the structure of our thought occurs, not just the subject of our thoughts. The ripening and resolving of Karma that involves very deep changes. This can challenge our egos, and also encourage us to allow our perceptions of reality to change. This can cause what some call symptoms, so called negative emotional states or even physical states. It is best to talk to a practitioner in consultation regarding this, maybe we could have a chat in the break.
With the making of gem essences and these vibrational remedies, it’s interesting to ask what you might think we are making essences for and why we would use them?
Answer:To uncover all those layers, to get down through the patterns to greater clarity.
Answer:To restore balance.
Answer: To help you.
Wendi: A lot of people view vibrational remedies as a form of medicine or therapy, a lot of people call it therapy, but it’s actually a form of communication or it can be a spiritual practice. It can be an involvement in the action of Unity. Many of us who are making essences look to a day that we don’t need them. Many of us producing essences and selling them are hoping that you won’t need to buy them, that you won’t want them, that you will have absolutely no need of essences. They are a very good tool to inform the individual of the interconnectedness of all things, of unity, or the Oneness of Being.
Question: The one’s who have been?
Answer( from Wendi): The Oneness of Being.
To make an essence, whether it is of an environmental situation, of an animal substance or, an animal itself, of a plant, of a rock, or even to channel an essence, can be an action of non-separateness. An act of Unity is an act itself and regardless of whether or not you pour the water out immediately, the act itself will go out into the world.
To join with the ground that you are standing on, the water that is carrying the essence and in acceptance of the being that you’re making the essence with, the environment, the time of day, everything that is in existence. To make an essence can be an action within or from an acceptance of Oneness.
You sit there, being present, with your self and also with the focus of the essence. Because we do need a focus , we do not do this alone. To receive communication, to be in a state of common union there does need to be more than yourself. As you engage in that state of communication or communion, the whole symphony of frequency or experience all goes in to the water.
The water accepts it unconditionally without judgement . Not just your experience, not just the communication or the essence of the plant or gem. The whole interactive moment of the engaged environment, the rock or flower and you. Even if the practitioner making the essence believes that they need to remain totally out of the scene , and takes what ever steps they feel necessary to gain that effect. They cannot devoid themselves from very deep contact, their experience and their state of being is imprinted in the water with the essence. So when you take an essence that I’ve made you’re actually taking a communication that I have experienced with another Being, a rock, a plant, and our connection to our physical/ emotional /mental/spiritual world. The rock, flower or animal bringing to the communication its range of connections and me bringing to the communication my range of connection.
So in the making of essences and in the passing of those essences on, you are performing an act of common unity. Just as making it is a great gift to both you and all those immediately involved and, yes to the whole world. To pass it on to others, it can also be a great gift.
This is a profound form of communication / communion.
I’ve been making essences now for over 20yrs and I have labeled some of them, and have written up some and they’re available as essences, and probably there will be more made available. To make them available commercialy is a step that has come after a lot of thought. To be continually asked to act in this fashion, by many people over a wide section of the community is the only real way that I have been able to assess whether or not it was appropriate for me to make the essences available to the community.
Now, when you’re a practitioner and you’re handing out essences that other people have made. In the choosing of an essence you are choosing what aspect of truth, what pattern of truth, what reflection of truth, what doorway into the Oneness of Being do you want to communicate to the being you have the privilege of communicating with. You can step sideways and say well these are their symptoms and I’ll muscle test, but really what it comes down to is that you’re handling that aspect of Truth. You are passing on an action of unity to another being, so you need to know that what you’re communicating does need to be passed on, because in truth every living creature is whole and doesn’t actually need to be healed.
Question: What was that last sentence again?
Wendi: Every living creature is whole and does not need to be healed.
Question: So do you mean that you need to stand by your truth that you are passing on?
Wendi: ... it is important for you to be seeking the truth in your self, but not just your truth, ... “truth” or reality. You are accountable for what you do pass on. This is something that you are choosing to communicate to another being. I am not choosing to give this to your client, you are. Your choice to give it as you pick the bottle up shifts the pattern between each of you and gives you both opportunities.
Your unconditional love in handing on truth to another shifts the pattern dramatically and you will reach a point where you can be very precise in the way that you need to communicate.
Question: So, in actual fact what you’re saying is the essences are always changing?
Wendi: They are always changing, and truth is constant. The water agrees to carry a pattern, but the water is never still, yet it is always water.
Question: Nothing is static is it?
Wendi: Nothing is static, we pretend, but it’s not static.
Question: So really, if you want to make up one essence and say you’ve been practicing doing a certain Truth, and then something comes to test you and you slip back to before you learnt that Truth, the person who’s got your essence will slide back too?
Wendi: No, because the water agrees, you are not the only agent in,nor are you the the most powerful being in, or the most powerful unit in the act. You’ve come forward to act in unity, and so has the plant, animal...or rock, and so has the water. There is a level of service going on here that goes far beyond you, but most importantly you don’t practice a truth as if it is an external thing.
If it is Truth, it is always.
Question: If you prescribe something to a client, and they take it and they put it at home on a shelf and other people touch it does it take on the other imprint as well, of other family members or not?
Wendi: That is an interesting question. An essence made with intent and the intent is quite, well hopefully very clear and the handing of an essence on to someone to take it, has been given with unconditional love and clear intent. With the intent of the person taking it, you would need to be fairly purposeful. I mean you can shift it, but intent is very important.
Severe shock and refusal or the state of the person taking the essence, if they’re not clearly wanting to take it, then the water and the brandy will shift more easily. Once somebody has started to take an essence there is a bond. Those of you who have taken essences know that some bottles of essences are more precious than others. That you’ll start taking an essence and you don’t want to let it go and you’ll carry it with you, that’s because there’s a very deep connection between you and the pattern the essence is communicating.
Then there are other essences that you’ll start to take and you forget that you’re even taking them, you leave them lying around and, well what is the connection here? There you have to look at whether it is avoidance, or whether or not you don’t need to take the essence. I guess what I’m saying is that, in regards to a bottle being shifted in it’s pattern, it does require full intent, but we are living in a very changing state, nothing is static.
Question: Say someone takes an essence they have used it, it’s helped and they feel better they’ve kept it. Then about a year later they feel the same kind of symptoms and they think I might just take that essence again. Is that a bad thing, should it have been disposed of?
Wendi: It is unfortunate that they didn’t complete the bottle, but it depends on how much brandy has been put in it.
Question: So it can keep?
Wendi: Yes it can keep. Depending on how sterile the contents of the bottle have been kept. One of the important aspects of this is how much alcohol is in the water of the essence.
The reason that we put it in glass bottles is its neutrality. I guess this is a good point to start talking about quartz. Glass is made mainly of silica dioxide, and so is quartz. The process of formation is different, one is melted (usually by human hand) and the other is a natural crystallization . Silica dioxide in its many forms, and silica and oxygen are the most common elements in the earth’s crust. Almost nothing exists on the planet that does not form in relationship to, or in close proximity to them.
It’s similar to water in that aspect, and so you’ve put the essence in a container that is very neutral, or as neutral to planet earth as you can.
This is actually why I’ve put out a quartz range first, because I like to start with very simple building blocks, and quartz relates to every body on the planet, and every thing on the planet. So there is a level of attunement to, and connection to quartz. This is a pattern that we’re learning whether or not its amethyst or pink quartz.
Question: Quartz’s are crystals?
Wendi: Yes.
Question: So when we talk about gems, these are not crystals are they?
Wendi: Ah, good question. Everything that exists in solid form is crystalline. Those of you who have done chemistry will know that as a gas form solidifies into a liquid, and from a liquid into solid, it is a form of crystallization. That means the forming of crystal. The gems are the ones that we think are pretty. Usually they are the ones that are clearer, harder to find, closer to perfect form. If quartz wasn’t so abundant, it would be the most precious thing on earth, because of its clarity and the purity of its colors.
Question: There’s a pink quartz and a white one?
Wendi: Yes and a blue one and a green one and a red one and a purple one and a brown one and a, whatever you like. Most colors are present in quartz.
Just as there are seven major color groupings and there are seven major tonal groupings, and there are seven major crystalline structures. All of matter forms into these crystal patterns, geometric crystal patterns. Basically the way the pattern of the molecules come together can be shown to be in one geometric form or another. So there is Cubic (Isometric), Tetragonal, Orthorhombic, Trigonal, Hexagonal, Monoclinic and Triclinic. Now an example of cubic is gold or diamond, they are cubic or isometric.
Question: Gold is cubic?
Wendi: Yes, and I’ve given Jackie an elemental table with all the different forms of crystalline structure. So if a solid is forming, and it’s of a pure element and in a "supportive" enviroment, it crystallizes in a pure geometrical pattern.
There is some confusion regarding Trigonal structure, the American school of thought has Trigonal as a sub class of the Hetragonal, all other schools regard Trigonal as a class on their own. You may find this confusing at first, as most of the information you will find, particularly on the net is from American sources. The thing to understand is that for your immediate purposes the only difference is whether or not they consider it a separate class or not, so really it’s just a matter of labeling and isn’t much of a problem.
Looking at the elemental tables where the elements are noted with their crystalline structure you will find there are some elements that as yet have not been classified in a crystalline structure, they are usually marked as unknown. I think that the material that I’ve given Jackie puts the Trigonal in the Hexagonal pattern.
So in looking at “Gem" essences made from Minerals such as crystals, rocks, conglomerates, sedimentary or volcanic e.g. sandstone and granite, and also metals. You are dealing with a level of manifestation that is very simple, we are starting to talk about the way energy manifests into matter and the patterns that are formed. So when you’re giving an essence, here comes the accountability part again, you are dealing with, and communicating to the level of the human being that is manifesting into matter moment to moment. This is not their emotions, this is, some people would call it, their "choice" to exist on the planet in this form. These are the patterns that they are creating to form the nature of their experience in this life. This affects emotional states but acts at a level beyond emotion. The point that you’re communicating at, is actually without emotion. It’s not related to mental constructs, it’s related to that very basic manifestation into matter. This is where we’re starting to talk about the direct line of energy from what people might call spirit, into form, into physical form..............
